Organizations and businesses are invited to host an ice cream booth


Casey Brown (Caring Hearts Fund and Cancer Care Center) and Treva Tayloe (Paris on the Square) take a pretend lick of the giant ice cream cone trophy that will be awarded during the Downtown Ice Cream Social and Antique Car Show. Vicky Muzzall (Vicky Muzzall's Tax Service) polishes her 1949 AssociationMercury Club Coupe in anticipation of the event, which takes place Saturday, July 30 from 3:00 until 6:00 pm. and is sponsored by the Downtown Paris Association (DPA).  

Organizations and businesses are invited to host an ice cream booth at no charge and vintage car owners are invited to bring their vehicles for a $10 entry fee, which includes a free ice cream bracelet. Bracelets for the all-you-can-eat event are $10 for adults and $5 for children under 12. They are available in advance from participating merchants and the Cancer Care Center or at the DPA booth on the day of the event. Proceeds benefit the Caring Hearts Fund and DPA. Celebrating Downtown
(June 14, 2011) The City of Paris will host a celebration of the new Downtown Park and kiosks on Saturday, June 25 from 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at the park site. The event will open with a dedication, recognition and ribbon cutting ceremony. Plans also include live music, historical characters, free gifts for attendees and sidewalk sales.  Full Story...

Barbecue Teams Sought for New Event
(April 28, 2011) The Downtown Paris Association (DPA) is seeking entrants for You Be the Judge – First Annual DPA Barbecued Meat Competition. The event takes place on Saturday, May 14 on the lawn of Henry County’s historic courthouse. Proceeds will benefit the W.G. Rhea Library and the DPA. The competition runs from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm.

Celebrate Mardi Gras in Style
(February 23, 2011) Mardi Gras will be celebrated in the finest New Orleans’
tradition in Paris, Tennessee on Saturday, March 5 with a festive Mardi Gras Ball that includes live music, costumes, royalty and fabulous food. The event takes place at the Paris Convention Center with proceeds benefiting the Paris-Henry County Heritage Center, an historic teaching museum and visitors’ center in downtown Paris.

GreenFest 2010 Video Contest
(October 21, 2010) The Paris-Henry County Chamber of Commerce, PARIS! magazine, MyParisMagazine.com and actress Cherry Jones were proud to sponsor a video contest during GreenFest 2010. Entries were to educate viewers on different ways to go green. The winner of the $300 prize was R.E.A.L. Hope Youth Center. Kudos to the kids and staff at R.E.A.L. Hope, great job!

(October 6, 2010) Car owners will be treated to free vehicle check ups this weekend at GreenFest 2010 from 10:00 am until 3:00 pm Saturday, October 9 in the First Bank parking lot in Downtown Paris. The First United Methodist Church of Downtown Paris presents their annual “Spring Gathering”, Friday, May 7 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in the Christian Life Center. Tickets are $8, which includes a hot lunch with their world acclaimed chicken casserole, famous green beans almandine, spinach and spring mix salad, favorite corn muffins and prize winning FUMC homemade pies and cakes. Organist David Williams to Perform a Progressive Pipe Organ Concert
(April 12, 2010) Professional organist and Paris native J. David Williams will be the recitalist for A Progressive Pipe Organ Concert, presented by the Athena Delphian Club on Sunday, April 25 at 2:00. The concert will begin at First Presbyterian Church in downtown Paris and continue to the First United Methodist, First Christian and First Baptist Churches. A mini-concert will be given at each location and the event will conclude with a reception in the Welcome Center of First Baptist Church. Audience members are invited to walk between locations, or transportation will be available.

Art League Juried Show is April 9
(April 8, 2010) The Tennessee River Fine Arts League (TRFAL) will be having its quarterly show and reception at Lee Academy for the Arts on Friday April 9th from 5 to 8 pm. This show will be the first of our juried shows. As our shows will now be juried, we will no longer have featured artists. Instead the shows will feature works of all our members.

Weekend Vocal Classes Open at Lee Academy
(February 1, 2010) Lee Academy for the Arts is proud to announce weekend vocal classes instructed by opera singer Nancy Collins Wise of Memphis, Tennessee. Wise, a native of Henry County has performed with Southern Opera Theatre of Memphis and the Houston Grand Opera in such productions as The Marriage of Figaro, The Pirates of Penzance, La Boheme, Carmen and Don Giovanni, as well as several world premiere operas. She has been a soloist with The Memphis Knights, the Memphis Jazz Orchestra and the Memphis Vocal Arts Ensemble. Wise is currently a vocal instructor/coach in Memphis.

A former member of Henry County High School Madrigals, Wise was a member of Tennessee’s All-State Chorus.

Private classes begin Saturday, February 6 and may be scheduled from 10:30 a.m. until 6:00 p.m. Lessons are $30 per half-hour. Extended lesson times also are available.

Historic Downtown Churches Host Christmas Services

"Official Best Of" Rescheduled
(September 29, 2009) Henry County’s historic and scenic downtown Paris will be featured in a television program focusing on Tennessee called “Official Best Of” at 1 pm on Saturday, October 3 and at 1 pm on Saturday, October 24 on WKRN (ABC) Channel 2 Nashville. A previously scheduled air date was cancelled due to editing delays. The thirty minute show will highlight the Henry County Courthouse and other sites around the court square in its Downtown segment. The production company creates television programming featuring the best family attractions in several states.

Community Christmas Concert

(December 17, 2008)  The Community Christmas Concert took on new life this year as musicians of all ages gathered to raise their voices. Afterwards, concert goers drove through historic Downtown Paris past the glow of luminaries on North Poplar Street (courtesy of the N. Downtown Advent Walk

(December 4, 2008)  From Grace Episcopal Church to First Christian Church, then Quinn Chapel AME, First Presbyterian and First Methodist, more than 300 worshippers processed by candlelight through Victorian downtown Paris.
