Cream Social Seeks Scoopers
(May 11, 2010) Clubs, businesses, churches and
individuals are invited to take part in the first-ever,
all-your-can- eat Downtown Ice Cream Social on Saturday,
July 31 in historic Downtown Paris. The event will
benefit a different, local non-profit organization each
year; 2010 proceeds will go to R.E.A.L. Hope Youth
Center.

Gathering at First United Methodist – YUM!
(April 19, 2010)
The
First United Methodist Church of Downtown Paris presents
their annual “Spring
Gathering”, Friday, May 7 from 11:00 am – 1:00 pm in the
Christian Life Center.
Tickets are $8, which includes a hot lunch with their
world acclaimed chicken casserole,
famous green beans almandine, spinach and spring mix
salad, favorite corn muffins and
prize winning FUMC homemade pies and cakes. All proceeds
go to missions.

Organist
David Williams to Perform a Progressive Pipe Organ
Concert
(April 12, 2010) Professional organist and Paris native
J. David Williams will be the recitalist for A
Progressive Pipe Organ Concert, presented by the Athena
Delphian Club on Sunday, April 25 at 2:00. The concert
will begin at First Presbyterian Church in downtown
Paris and continue to the First United Methodist, First
Christian and First Baptist Churches. A mini-concert
will be given at each location and the event will
conclude with a reception in the Welcome Center of First
Baptist Church. Audience members are invited to walk
between locations, or transportation will be available.

League Juried Show is April 9
(April 8, 2010) The Tennessee River Fine Arts League (TRFAL)
will be having its quarterly show and reception at Lee
Academy for the Arts on Friday April 9th from 5 to 8 pm.
This show will be the first of our juried shows. As our
shows will now be juried, we will no longer have
featured artists. Instead the shows will feature works
of all our members.

Downtown Churches Host Christmas Services
(December 21, 2009) As the hustle and bustle of holiday
preparation slows, four Historic Downtown Paris churches
will host special Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and
weekend services. Christmas Eve begins as it should,
with children. Services for little ones are followed by
candlelight, communion, carols and scripture throughout

Candlelight Advent Walk Heralds the Season
(November 30, 2009) The Candlelight Advent Walk ushers
in the Christmas season Wednesday evening, December 2 at
6:30 p.m. Worshippers can hear the message of Advent in
beautifully decorated churches then process by
candlelight through the historic downtown area.

Best Of" Rescheduled
(September 29, 2009) Henry County’s
historic and scenic downtown Paris will be featured in a
television program focusing on Tennessee called
“Official Best Of” at 1 pm on Saturday, October 3 and at
1 pm on Saturday, October 24 on WKRN (ABC) Channel 2
Nashville. A previously scheduled air date was cancelled
due to editing delays. The thirty minute show will
highlight the Henry County Courthouse and other sites
around the court square in its Downtown segment. The
production company creates television programming
featuring the best family attractions in several states.

(June 24, 2009) Arts 'Round the Square (ARTS), the
centerpiece of Eye-Full of Paris
Weekend, has issued a call for artists to show, sell and
demonstrate their wares during the September 26, 2009
event. Held from 10:00 a.m. until 4:00 p.m. on the lawn
of Henry County’s historic courthouse, ARTS is
co-sponsored by the Paris-Henry County Arts Council and
the Downtown Paris Association.

members were on hand at a recent reception honoring
Director of the W.G. Rhea Library, Connie McSwain.
The DPA presented Connie with a plaque featuring a poem
written for Connie entitled "God Broke the Mold."

storefronts at the former Office Concepts building,
where the Tennessee River Fine Arts League (TRFAL) has
set up a display of members' paintings. A second
storefront at the site will hold a display for the
Children's Theater.

Christmas Concert
(December 17, 2008) The Community Christmas
Concert took on new life this year as musicians of all
ages gathered to raise their voices. Afterwards, concert
goers drove through historic Downtown Paris past the
glow of luminaries on North Poplar Street (courtesy of
the N. Poplar Street Neighborhood Association) to a
holiday reception at the Heritage Center with food, live
music, lovely decorations and plenty of fellowship.

Advent Walk
(December 4, 2008) From Grace Episcopal Church to
First Christian Church, then Quinn Chapel AME, First
Presbyterian and First Methodist, more than 300
worshippers processed by candlelight through Victorian
downtown Paris.
Cookies and hot chocolate delighted the walkers at their
last stop. The annual event was organized by the HC
Ministerial Association and the Downtown Paris
Association.

Paris. This entire series, as well as other artwork by
Lee including the “Eiffel Tower Dreamscapes” and “Views

Mimi’s. Mimi’s, who has a downtown exclusive on Lee’s
prints, has also agreed to handle print orders generated
