Chamber
Coffee Host Trees on the Square
Get in the Christmas
spirit at the second annual Trees on the Square Event as
it serves as the host site for our next Chamber Coffee,
Tuesday December 2, 2008 at 125 East Washington Street
next to the Board of Public Utilities in the First Bank
building (formerly Office Concepts.)
A Christmas tree showcase, Trees on the Square is a 3
week long yuletide event that is fastly becoming a
holiday tradition. Trees of all sizes, shapes and colors
are sponsored and decorated by local businesses and
organizations. Last year’s participants went from
whimsical to the spectacular. Groups ranging from the
Girls Scouts to the National Guard worked along side
professional decorators to transform a vacant building
into a winter wonderland of 37 decorated Christmas trees
where visitors get lost in the spirit of the season.
The results were extraordinary with over 2000 people
visiting historic downtown Paris and its shopping
opportunities during the 2007 holiday season. Creating
the spectacular event this year will be Laura Dougherty,
Chairperson, Andrea Lamb, Danyelle Harber, Tommie St.
John, Tamara Paschall, Mark Johnson and staff members
Galia Greer and Susie Umstead.
Trees on the Square will be open December 2 to December
21. Staffing will be overseen by the Downtown Paris
Association. Call Mike Key at Leach’s Music to volunteer
to work. “Trees on the Square” was a huge success last
year and we are excited to continue this partnership
with the DPA on this great downtown event, “according to
Chamber President Bryan Irby, BPU.”
Join us for a special Trees on the Square preview during
the Chamber Coffee.
