Ice
Cream Social Seeks Scoopers
(May 11, 2010) Clubs, businesses, churches and
individuals are invited to take part in the first-ever,
all-your-can- eat Downtown Ice Cream Social on Saturday,
July 31 in historic Downtown Paris. The event will
benefit a different, local non-profit organization each
year; 2010 proceeds will go to R.E.A.L. Hope Youth
Center.
“There’s just nothing more fun on a summer afternoon
than eating ice cream, visiting
with friends and neighbors, winning prizes and raising
money for a great cause,” said
Kathy Ray, event chair.
Participating groups will have a maximum of a 10’ X 10’
area and will be responsible for bringing their own
table, decorations and 15 gallons of ice cream. Homemade
ice cream is encouraged but not required. Prizes will be
awarded for the Best Ice Cream, Best Theme and Best of
Show.
Sponsored by the Downtown Paris Association (DPA), the
all-you-can-eat social will
take place in and around the Court Square. Tickets will
be $10 for adults and $5 for
children under 12. The group hopes to raise more than
$5,000 according to Ray.
“Booth partners are invited to share not only ice cream,
but also their unique messages, as well,” said Ray.
“This is a great outreach opportunity for local
organizations, plus they will positively impact the
children of our county through the R.E.A.L. Hope Youth
Center.”
Areas will be available on the Court House lawn and in
front of businesses. Cups, spoons, picnic tables, music
and trash cans will be the responsibility of the DPA.
